Bambu Desserts & Drinks Information

Tucked into the busy Bellaire Boulevard strip, Bambu Desserts & Drinks is one of those spots you stumble into on a hot Houston afternoon and end up bookmarking for repeat visits. The location itself is easy to miss among the surrounding shops, but once inside, the bright, clean space and the steady flow of customers give it away as a local favorite.

The menu leans heavily into Vietnamese-inspired desserts and beverages, with chè being the main attraction. If you’ve never tried chè before, it’s essentially a layered dessert drink combining ingredients like coconut milk, beans, jelly, fruit, and crushed ice. It might sound unusual at first, but the balance of textures and flavors is surprisingly addictive. I went for one of their house specials, which came stacked with pandan jelly, longan, and a creamy coconut base. It was refreshing without being overly sweet, which is something a lot of dessert spots struggle to get right.

Beyond chè, the menu also includes fruit smoothies, milk teas, and Vietnamese coffee. The avocado smoothie stood out, blending richness with just enough sweetness to keep it from feeling heavy. Their iced coffee, made with strong Vietnamese drip coffee and condensed milk, had that bold, slightly bitter kick that coffee lovers tend to appreciate. It’s clear from both the menu variety and the consistency that they know what they’re doing with drinks.

The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, more functional than cozy, but it works for what it is. Most people seem to come in for a quick treat rather than a long sit-down experience. Service is straightforward and efficient; orders come out fairly quickly even during peak hours, and the staff keeps things moving without feeling rushed. Based on multiple visits and reading through other reviews online, consistency seems to be one of their strengths, which is always reassuring.

One thing worth noting is that if you’re unfamiliar with some of the ingredients, the menu descriptions can feel a bit minimal. It helps to either ask the staff or do a quick search beforehand, especially if you’re curious about trying something new. Still, that sense of discovery is part of the appeal. For anyone exploring Houston’s diverse dessert scene, this spot offers something a little different from the usual ice cream or bakery options, and it does it well enough to keep people coming back.

What People's Say About Place

Came for dessert after lunch. There are many options to choose and all are tasty and delicious. Shaved ice is cold and yummy. Make sure you have people to share with because it's huge. Drinks with boba or che are always good options too. Che is very filling so be sure to save room if you go after eating a meal like we did. I like the Bambu special or combo because they put real fruit into the cup. But be careful, it's very filling. If you can't eat it all, you can save it for the next day. Fruit is still good as leftovers.

Tried coming here for a few years. Couldn’t get here except on sat afternoons and it’s always packed. Stopped by on a weekday Friday right at opening time, and it was completely empty. Service was great. Tables and seating area are thoughtful. Single, double tops, a sofa, a dining table size larger table for group study or just to spread out with a laptop were all available. Drinks are not my combination or style and I chose one of their top drinks… but I hear it’s a Vietnamese and a BAMBU classic and you should def go! I’ll try a regular plain Vietnamese coffee next time. Plenty of parking but my friends have been carjacked at this exact parking multiple times, so you need to watch where you’re parking and keep an eye on your car and random minivans that are circling the lot and never ever leave cash or bags in your car. The worst is the side entrance of Kim Son & Pelicana chicken. Finally, I think 9.12 for the smaller sized drink (medium?) and tax before tip is a bit much for 1 drink…

Their desserts are not for me, but I can tell it’s good quality and made well. I’m not used to the sweet red beans taste, but I like the coconut flavors here.

I've ordered the taro and pandan waffle. The size is ginormous and made fresh to order. I gave 4 stard because the flavor isn't strong and very faint. It would be better if they used more coconut and pandan flavor and put bits of mashed taro into the waffle.

Love this place! Me and my husband go often now and they have many drinks and lots of options. Their macaroons are amazing! My go to drink is the hazelnut mocha coffee. If is so good! Had some hiccups with service when it is busy but I’ve almost always had amazing drinks and good service here. We will come again and again :)

Their chè /desert is always consistent in quality, that’s what makes me crave for it sometimes. The shaved iced is too pricey, we ordered the family portion but when it came out we thought it was individual portion. I remembered it was much bigger (maybe somewhere else). Price seems to increase everywhere nowadays. If you go at night, might be a long wait to get your order tho.

Friendly service and the che drinks are delicious! My favorite is the #1 special, it is refreshing and light on a hot day.

First time in Chinatown, I went to this Vietnamese Dessert place. Seems a local spot for Asian people, I did try the shaved ice with mixed berries and was really good, quantity was more than enough! Tasty and soft in the mouth, also tried the dessert drink from and a friend and was approved. Definitely worth trying it.
